  • The cheetah is the fastest land animal on earth
  • Reaches speeds of 100/km per hour
  • Can accelerate from standing to top speed in 3 seconds
  • In full stride can cover 10metres in a single stride

  • A cheetah's claws never retract fully

  • A cheetah's coat is made up of spots not rosette patterns as in the jaguar and leopard

  • Shouler height: 33 inches
  • Sexually mature at 24 months
  • Gestation: 95 days
  • Usually has 2 to 5 young
  • Diet: gazelles, small antelope species, hares, rodents and gamebirds
  • Lifespan: Up to 12 years in the wild
  • The cheetah hunts during the day and especially at early morning and late afternoon
